The first ever Performance Ford Big Weekender

Now how about this for a season opener….March 27th & 28th will see the first ever track based ford shootout hit the UK.
With the growing trend of everybody wanting to hit the track, Performance Ford Magazine and Lydden Hill Race Circuit are pleased to announce the first Performance Ford Track Attack Weekender.
The UK top tuner’s and motorsport specialists will be fighting it out to be top dog. Now its one thing to be able to drive fast in a straight line BUT it’s a whole new story when you add the turns of a fully licensed race circuit!
With RS200’s, Escort Cossies and even standard Ford road cars there will be a huge variety of fords on show and competing
For the first ever Ford Track Attack we’re talking full circuit timed laps, the big question is what tuners or even individual enthusiasts are brave enough to contest for the BIG the cash prize!!!

But if your cars already hit your local tuner and you want to show how good you and machine really are then we’ve got that covered too. For just £150 you will get your chance to hit the track in the time sprint section and also put yourself in the race for the cash prizes. So if you’ve got a FWD, RWD, 4x4, road legal or even non road legal vehicle contact us, we have a class to suit all.

Ok so not all of us want to race but lets face it most of us can’t turn down a good motoring weekend….Why not bring your camping gear along and maybe the family as well. For the kids we will be providing a kids entertainment area including bouncy castles and slides

If you are a member of a Ford car or owners club then drag your club along for the event. The weekend will be a great chance to show off your cars and get new members involved. All clubs will be in for the “Best Car Club” award.
There will also be a rolling road on site to test the performance of public and show cars, and for the drivers after the awards there are also prizes for “Best in Show” and “Best Sleeper”etc

The event will also boast an impressive trade area which will provide everything the enthusiast needs for their motor.

To entertain your eyes on circuit we have Round 1 & 2 of the Competition Car Insurance Ford Fiesta Championship which is guaranteed to have some door banging fast racing action. With over 10 cars on track at anyone time there is never a dull moment!!

So what now……how much…..where…..what next???

Prices are just £150 to enter the sprint or to be on show with your club its just £10 for the whole weekend INCLUDING CAMPING!! and for those who are just tagging along its £20 (single day entry £12 per day).

The venue is Lydden Hill Race Circuit, Kent. Just pass Canterbury on the A2.

Go to www.lyddenhill.co.uk for all terms & conditions and forms.

Oh and one last thing, ALL cars that are on show including those who arrive on the day will be judged for the all awards, including the “Best in Show” award.

So mark your calendar, tell your friends and family.and be at the first ever Performance Ford Track Attack Weekender. If your club organiser would like to contact me get me on jamie@lyddenhill.co.uk.

Speak soon

Any idea what time this starts/ opens?? What time is anyone getting there?

I was going to suggest meeting at Kent Motorcycles (Dover Road,Canterbury, CT4 6SA) as it is on the way and there is a fairly large carpark :)

From Kent Motorcycles it should only be a few minutes drive to Lydden

Fingers crossed that you can get your carbs sorted!!

Can't see any start times advertised, I've dropped them an email, but failing that similiar events @ Lydden seem to start @9am.

Maybe meet at Kent Motorcycles @ 8:40, then head over to the Lydden @ 9am?

well what can i say about that weekend

all i can say is, to all the other members that didnt come along, dont worry it was rubbish!!!

from the flyer above, i was expecting trade stands the main green full of blue ovals, the track alight with popping turbos and growling duratecs tyre squeeling and the like

what we got was, 20 or so saph cossie's 10 or so escort cossies, a few 3dr cossies, a couple of cosie powerd cars and some ford (cossie and duratec) rally cross cars (by which i mean 2) no stands no jumble, no club displays (other than the volvo sorry focus st owners club)

there was some racing, the fiesta cup was there, first race was originally a 17 minute race, 2 laps in a car goes off into the elbow, race stopped, race restarted with 11 minute race, first lap, car cut infront of another goes off sideways into a bank, gets airborn lands race stopped, think the final race was 7 minutes

however in that 7 minutes, a fight broke out between 2 1400 zetec s fiesta's ending in a days of thunder style chassing after the car to ram it after the race finished (although not as dramatic)

think there was all but 5 or 6 old fords there, blue big wing rs2000 rep, early fez with a 2.0 zetec (very nice that) ians, mk1 1, my mk1 and the mk2 fez, i did spot another original mk1 fez on my way out but was cold and bored at this point so went and watched a race and went home (and kind of curled up on the sofa with the wifes dog and went to sleep)

better luck next time and the tyre held out all the way home, and to work today and to look at the mk2 estate and is still up now :D
